I also second the suggestion to get to a qualified vet. If you do not have one you can go to either http://www.anapsid.org/society.html#United%20States or www.arav.org Hopefully you will find one listed in your area. This is a serious problem that as was said could be fungal, bacterial, or viral. That in the end can result in a systemic infection that will spread thru the system.

:hi I have a ig. that is about 2 years old. Recently I found out that on his tail, about 8 inches from the tip of the tail, there is a spot where the scales were gone and the spot turned black and it looked like its burned. I am sure that nothing that the ig. could reach so he could burn himself...I am worry that it might be some fungus or something that is killing the muscle or tissue on that area cuz it thinner than the surrounding. Can someone tell me what that might be and what i can do to treat it??? I don't want the tail to fall. Thank you so much for the help....
