Good morning all. Recently I was given an iguanna from a local pet store. I was there buying food for my snake & the owner said I could take the iguanna & use it for food b/c he couldnt get it to eat & it was gonna die. Needless to say, I took it but DID NOT use it for food. It was pathetic tho. Its tail looked horrid & frail & its ribs were showing. It was almost yellow in color & could barely walk. I decided I was gonna try to revive it so I bought some of the juvenille iguanna pellets & took it home with a "GOOD LUCK" from the owner. Well, that was a week ago & its still alive & eating on its own. :-) I had to use water to soften the pellets at 1st & I had to even force feed it for the 1st 3 days. It's now a brilliant green in colot...tail looks better & its movin around on its own & in good spirits. It is only 6 inches long I'd say, so pretty young right? Anyway...I am feeding it the softened pelets, unsoftened pellets, watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, bananna, grapes, lettuce, & carrot all sprinkled with calcium dust. Can anyone tell me what else would be good for it to eat? I have a reptile light on it as well. For now its in a 10 gal, but I intend to get a 75 gal in a few month. Will that be large enuff? What else would be good to place in the tank with it? Probably something for climbing? I have a rock in there for shed already. What about bedding? Reptile bark ok? Thats what I have in there now. Sorry this is so long but I'm new to this species & I wanna take care for the lil guy the best I can. Oh yeah...how can u tell if its male or female? Again, sorry this is so long but thanks for reading & replying.
