In Reply to: Can iguanas get west nile virus? np posted by Phunkeyphish on August 05, 2002 at 13:34:50:
Aparently serveral animals exposed to west nile virus were able to develop antibodies for it and never showed clinical signs. But I also found information that there is not enough information to tell if reptiles can contract west nile virus, or simply I have not found a site that offers a reliable source of information on determining if reptiles can contract it. Mosquitos can be a host to other diseases as well anyway. Look at flys...flys can introduce ringworm into your reptile just by landing on its food and reguratating all the manuer from horses or where ever else the fly was. so basically...just take your chances and precautions, or keep your iguana inside.
