In Reply to: Thinking About Getting Another Iquana Questions??? posted by ballguy on August 02, 2002 at 11:41:54:
If you are starting a ball breeding project and have a beardie, the responsibility and time involved with owning a 6 foot lizard might be too much to handle.
You were young and stupid then, and didn't realize what it takes. What makes you so sure you're ready to have one now?
I have a 1.5 year old juvie living with me right now who is just a complete menace. He bites, whips, etc. But the owner, nor I, am willing to give him up. He was bought, and so was the responsibility of owning him. We've tried to gain his trust, and failed. We let him have some down time and I'm starting to handle him again, with the protection of a bandana of course. =P
My point is, just because they're mean, doesn't mean that they'll stay that way. And even if they do, they're still yours, and you've gotta find other ways of admiring the animal without just dumping it on someone else, or letting it wilt away and die.
If you don't mind my asking, how old are you now? and how old were you when you were "younger and stupid"? and what makes you think you're more able to keep a large animal now?

:Hello everybody. I am thinking about getting a new iguana. I have had a few in the past when I was younger and stupid. I ended giving those ones away. I am currently starting a ball python breeding project. And I have a bearded dragon. I have alway loved Iguanas. The ones I had in the past were baby's they were mean. I was looking for some tips on how to tame them. I want to be able to let mine run around the house. You know like a scaled dog....:) Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
