How are we suppose to respond...like what do we write? I'm like going to reports and complain about every damn company now.
PE
::that is, the Centers for Disease Controls, a federal agency run by the Department of Health and Human Services.
::
A family contacted me, as a reptile rescuer, because their 7 year old daughter contracted cryptosporidiosis from one of two animals purchased at a PETsMART in Rock Hill, SC which subsequently died.::They wanted to avoid stressing the girl further by publicity or hearings and so opted to have a rescue agency work on the case on their behalf. This is how I came to be involved.
::After doing a little checking with people in the reptile community and with PETsMART corporate office, I find that all of their stores are supplied mainly by Fluker Farms, 1333 Port Allen Road, Plantation, LA 70767
::1-800 735-8537::Animals are coming in sick or dead, and are infected with cryptosporidium, coccidia, nematodes, trematodes and adenovirus. Fluker Farms and Reptile Republic, their South American division, have avoided my inquiries, hung up on my phone calls, not answered my mail, and deleted inquiries for veterinary records posted on their message boards at URL for Reptile Republic deleted by eyespy as per TOS
::I am seeking information on how to get these animals tested before they make it into the pet stores and become a health hazard.
::If you are also concerned about sick animals entering this country and being offered for public sale, I urge you to voice your own complaint. This is our government (if you are a US citizen), we pay them to work for us. :-)
