The U of P vet school is doing liver transplants on African clawed frogs just to see how well cold-bloods take to it, and the answer is, not well.
All those immunosuppressant drugs taken to prevent rejection bunge up the new organs in no time. All the stress of surgery seems like the animal's metabolism never runs high enough to filter out the drugs.
Maybe a tubful of ice is the way to go (she says, at #6,783 on the heart/lung transplant list for humommys).
