wellllllllllllll ...
it'd be better (+ easier!?) to try + prevent long hair from being eaten in the 1st place ... (i have *really short* hair so it's easy for me to say that!)

with *long* hair (or string, etc!) the issue isn't "hair balls" as much as it is that the long hair can potentially strangulate the intestines on it's way out ... *Extremely* important to NEVER PULL hair/string/etc if it's "sticking out" of an ig's vent!!!
bad bad baaaaaaaaad things can happen ... the hair/string can literally *cut* the tissues if it's pulled ... *grimace* *shudder*

"hair balls" are more of a *mass* of fur that the animal has ingested while grooming itself ~ cats vomit them up ~ rabbits can't vomit so it's important they get ALOT of fiber (hay) to help it move along ... since your ig's diet is high in fresh greens, that's pretty high fiber and is probably helping ...
(just thinkin' "out loud" here ... i have rabbits + my Ma has cats ... *grin*) ... so to seriously answer your question, no, i don't think there's any "dietary" thing that would necessarily help ~ other than stopping hair from being ingested in the 1st place ...

on the other hand ... ummmmmm ~ maybe we should be *more* concerned with *why* your hair is falling out???? *evil grin*

Bon.
