I was in the Waterdragon/Basilisk forum the other day and to my suprise, some iguana specialist is posting advice on iguanas.
I quote: ""With my extensive knowledge of turtles... and limited knowledge of lizards, I can only tell you a few helpful pointers to get started off right. One, most reptiles will only get as big as their environment allows... to a point. For example, a green Iggy housed in a 10 gallon aquarium from hatchling to adult will be far smaller than one of the same clutch that was housed in a 75 gallon aquarium since birth. They may both start out growing near the same pace, but eventually the one in the smaller cage will stop growing and just get fatter. There is no room for such a lizzie to move around and he will eventually drive himself mad(not sure about that... but I've seen larger turtles beat the sh!t out of their cage glass when they were in too small a tank.)""
I commented, and told him that his 'advice' was most cruel and iguanas should never be kept in a 10 or 75 gallon, nevermind trying to 'control' their size.
He then quickly tried to cover his a**, but this guy obviously needs a lesson in lizard care. I cant believe that people are still trying to get away with 'care tips' such as these. The guy must work in a pet store or something.
