Latex sensitivity is where you get contact dermatitis from direct contact with the latex, but the immune system doesn't get involved. These people are usually responding to the stabilizers, preservatives, and other chemicals used in manufacturing latex items. Once you figure out which chemical sensitivity they have, there is sometimes a shot available.
There is no shot for latex allergy, where you don't even have to touch latex, just breathe in airborne particles. Nine people died during a study trying to develop an alllergy serum at Johns Hopkins and so all studies have been cancelled. I was one of the lucky ones who just had reactions but didn't have cardiorespiratory arrest. I think I was one of the placebo control group.
It only takes 4 molecules to kill a latex allergic person and it would be really hard and really expensive to refine the serum carefully enough to be safe.
