Sounds like breeding season! Does he do this anytime you approach? Usually they will have their moments of craziness and then calm down a little (enough for you to handle them and clean the cage). Give him his space when he is at his worst. Try to handle him when he is a bit calmer. Offer him some treats now and then. You are just going to have to ride it out until it's over...be careful and use protective clothing/towels/gloves and whatever you need so you protect yourself from a bite.
