: Iz Mom,
Thanks for the great suggestions. This spring I will build a taller cage. I do not know the dimension yet but it will be BIG. Oh by the way I use a 4 foot 5.0 UV reptile flourescent light. It is about 6 months old and on at least 12 hours a day. My iggy is quite lazy, more exercise could help. I live in NY and the weather is cold right now so unfiltered sunlight is impossible. I take her out daily and she sits on the sofa on top of heating pad.
Thanks Martin.
: she should be going to the bathroom *alot* more often! when they go for days without *going*, they will lose their appetite cuz they already feel *full* and so she's not getting the nutrtion she needs ... also can easily become dehydrated ...
: warm tub soaks will help her to go to the bathroom if she's constipated now ... when iZ moved in with me, i had him soak every nite about the same time and it helped his body eventually get into a more regular routine ... he *usually* goes everynite ... over two days without pooping and he gets *very* bloated ... (once to the point it was interferring with his ability to breathe!)
:
: what will also help if she's constipated now, is to give her little drinks of water from an oral syringe (like they use for babies) a couple times of day ... i do that on a daily basis with iZ to *prevent* constipation ...
: the high calcium level could just be that you need to adjust her diet just a bit ... iZ's was high for a while and cutting down on the collards helped ... so it could just be a *simple* thing (*grin*)
: here's a couple links for you to check out ... both are highly recommended by *many* igs *and* their humans ... MK's is very extensive and can give you a *ton* of info on just about *everything* you need to know about igs! (but that doesn't mean you can't come back + ask questions!)
