Jennifer..maybe bacterial infection...Spot needs to see a vet soon. You mentioned "growth" bact. infections usually lump, bump abcess. Fungal infections are more pitted and flat. Usually from improper husbandry..too humid, low temps, blah blah blah (Im tired just got off work!) if its that type just put a little tolfanate (tinactin) foot powder on it..I use it on my snakes too if they get fungal infections, but don't take my word for it..ask your vet if its ok to do so.
Let us know what the vet says..am always curious if Im on the right track
