thanks for all of the suggestions. I actually had him in the bath for quite a while last night hoping they would loosen up, but I had not thought to rub them between my fingers - I was just slowly pouring water over him to try to get them as soaked as possible. He actually loves having his spikes pet, so I bet he would like me rubbing them for him! I'll give that a shot !!

: Welcome to the bestest forum!!! :)

:
: "standard suggestions":
: daily soaks in the tub ~ a nice warm, wet washcloth over his back so the spikes can actually soak as well ... depending on how much he actually LIKES to soak in the tub, after he's had the wash cloth on for a bit, you can kinda "rub" the spikes between your fingers ~ *gently!* ~ and help loosen them a bit ...

: lots of water sprinkled on salads right before serving them ~ increasing the amount of fluids that go IN helps loads with shedding ...

: keep his room humidity UP ... (tho if you're in Chicago it's prob'ly humid enuf!? *grin*)

: and then ....
: the best thing i found put *on* really stubborn spike-shed to help is "Neutrogena" hand cream (UN-scented) ...

: good luck!!
: *head rubbies* for Sebastian!
