IBAMA is the Brazilian institute for environment protection.It's a government institute.
I sent them an e-mail asking how a green iguana could survive in the semi arid region.I will translate the answer.It's in the 1st paragraph:
"Dear Flavia.
The iguana-iguana is NOT a lizard from tropical humid climate and can be found all over the Brazilian territory except in the southern cold regions.They can survive in the semi arid regions because reptiles in general are very good in avoiding body's water loss and they take great part of the water they need from the fresh food they eat".

: The iguanas come from the Amazon region(green color), semi arid region (red color with stripes) and from region with mixed vegetation (yellow color).As you can see iguanas can come from different regions and different vegetations.They need hot weather, that's all!
