: He is not yet comfortable enough in his enclosure and with you to be down on the ground. That is when an Ig is most vulnerable. Having his feet on the branches gives him an avenue of escape if those big lumbering humans come tromping up. Mine did that at first and finally settled in enough to actually get on the floor to eat. If you take out the branches he will feel less secure and may not eat at all.
