: Hi there!!
: I was following along with the diet
controversy...I read the iguana den diet, but I
sure didn't realize it was so slanted, till I read
the "Setting the record straight" article! I have
been picking & choosing from the chart that kevin
egan has at his sight, and I was just wondering if
my ig diet passes the test...anyone wanna comment?
I'd appreciate it...
: I feed Cleo about 70% greens, we use collards,
turnip, mustard and occasionally dandelion...more
as they spring up, I'm sure!! I have gotten some
seeds for these greens, and as soon as I can, I'm
gonna start growing some of my own.
: For veggies we use butternut squash, yellow
squash, parsnip & green beans. I have found that
the frozen french cut ones are about Cleo's
favorite part of her salad...she never would touch
fresh ones.
: I don't use fruit much, Cleo doesn't like
oranges...and all the others I tried, she left on
her plate. Is fruit optional?
: Once a week I add calcium, a multi vitamin, and
I add some brewer's yeast on the frozen beans.
: SOOOOOO how'm I doin? (Just wanna be sure...:o)
: Also...this is totally off topic, and I
apologize, but I'm a little deperate...I mentioned
my guinea pig losing her babies...well now I may
be losing the momma, and one of her babies is
alive, and after so much stinkin' death, I sure
would like to save it...would any of you guys know
of a good web site with G. P. info? I have heard
some of you mention having guinea pigs, so I
thought I'd ask. I know that there's probably not
anything near as helpful as this place for my
little baby. My 5 year old named her "Babe"- kinda
appropriate, since Babe didn't have a momma
either. (sorry to be such a bummer!)
: But, the vet wanted to try to treat the momma
last night...one last ditch attempt...I'll let you
know how it goes.
: Anyway, thanks for your help... no poop stories
today,
: What can I say...The fish tank is covered, the
potty is still working for us...I suppose no news
is good news as far as the "P" word is concerned!
: I'll be back!!
: Lorry, Cleopatra (Queen of The Sunroom)
: And Babe, the five day old guinea pig.
: PS: what does IMHO stand for?? I've been trying
to figure it out...but I'm still wondering....:o)

So sorry about your guinea pig, hope she makes it, it is really hard to lose one of your babies.
Your diet sounds god to me and Joan I've read the same thing about banana's,feed as a special treat nd not often.I guess I'm lucky Cirsis eats everything and really does like her fruit.I give her fruit every 2or3 days mixed with her salad.I use cal.supp once a week,in the summerless because she in the sun everyday for 10hrs a day.She also munches on hibicus and gerainums(sp)along with her salad.Hope this helps and hope your baby makes it.
