The sex of my iguana really isn't that important to me, but it would be so nice to know which pronoun to use. :-)
Some days I see Amazon strutting around the cage, doing a gentle little head bob while checking that everything is in order. Then he sees me watching, notices my cat or birds or bearded dragons, and goes into head-bob overload. On these days I say he and him.
Other days she calmly perches atop her water fountain, letting the water flow gently onto her snout from time to time. She is serene, cool, and at peace with the world. These are the days where I say she and her.
When s/he decides to develop some secondary sexual characteristics I will feel less schizophrenic.
I can see signs that the day is approaching, although slowly. When I first got him, I couldn't see her femoral pores unless I was wearing my glasses. Now they are quite visible, although certainly not "large" like a mature fellow's would be. This growing like a weed phase is exciting. It's scary too, though, wondering if all those new bone and muscle and skin and blood cells got all the nutrients they need.
A note for the record: I still lean ever so slightly towards male. No particular reason, just a gut feeling. Of course, my gut can be pretty brainless at times. ;-)
