Don't take my word as gospel, but it sounds as though your iguana might have ingested something she can't pass, which is in turn blocking her from even passing feces and urates. It's not a certainty, but certainly a possiblility, and i've seen this play out a few times before. Same scenario. Then again, she may be a he and could quite possibly be in season. Who told you her sex, and do you know how to tell yourself?

: Hi, I'm a first timer here. I wanted to seek advice about my iquana, she's around 2 years old, 3 1/2 feet long. She has almost always eaten in the morning about 9 and used the bathroom about noon-3ish, for the 8 months I've owned her. The only time she has deviated is when I've taken her on trips, which seemed to be a reaction to the stress, and then always after about 4 or so days she'd finally go and be back on her normal schedule.

: Recently she has been getting constipated, and only going once every 3-4 days. She's all swollen and bloated, she obviously needs to go, I'm very worried. There's always A LOT of liquid and a little actual feces. She eats a pretty varied diet of yellow squash, brocolli/cauliflower, turnip greens or fresh kale, sliced carrots, bits of apple, the occasional bit of pear or mushed grape...etc...no supplements at all, should I be?

: Her cage, where she has been staying full time due to the nature of her being likely to 'blow' at any time, has a big rock in it, and a reptile heating pad under the cage itself, directly under the rock. It stays a little bit warm to the touch, probably in the 90s, could that be too warm? What she usually does is forego the rock all together and lay on the bottom of the cage, (covered with newspaper of course) where it's warmer.

: She doesn't have a pan or dish or anything with water, I've heard that's a requirement for their habitat, but just haven't got one. I should mention that she's usually only in the cage from morning til afternoon, when she uses the bathroom, then she has her favorite spots around my apartment.

: Anybody know what's wrong that could cause this sudden constipation?

: Josh
