: About 11 months ago, our now 2yr old iguana, Zilla, escaped outside. About two months later we were amazed when he was found in the yard right where he ran away. A Vet determined that he had dislocated his spine right above his back legs. He also had internal parisites. Now he seems much better, he is able to move his back legs again. He can walk and even run (although he trips over his feet sometimes.) According to the vet, he is very healthy now. Our only real concern is that he will sometimes suddenly twitch or hyper extend one of his back legs. The vet didnt seem too concerned about this, but we are a little worried. We've read that it might be calcium defficancy or MBD, but we have been giving him plenty of calcium and vitamin supplements and use a repti-sun 5.0 UV light 12 hours a day. Its difficult to give him natural sunlight (thats how he escaped in the first place) and now we are living in an apartment with no yard. Could the twitching just be a result of his past injury? Or something else?
