: Zoob, pictured here when he was only about 4 feet long, is now a six-foot iguana that disappeared from his cage on his owner’s porch on June 18.

: 7/9/2002

: A six-foot iguana is missing from a residence in Moore.

: Sometime between 10 p.m on June 18 and 6 a.m. June 19, "Zoob" disappeared from his cage on the front porch of his home on NW 18th Street, behind Kelly Elementary School, and his owners suspect foul play.
: One of the most suspicious details regarding Zoob's disappearance is the fact that a fledgling bird the family had taken in died that same night, said owner Lisa Foster. The bird, which had been flourishing in the family's care for about a week, had been kept in a cage very near Zoob's cage.
: "He would have made a lot of noise if someone came on the porch," Foster gave as a possible motive someone might have had for killing the bird - someone who also might have stolen Zoob.
: Foster has owned the iguana for five years, from when Zoob was just a baby that could fit on Foster's lap.
: "I knew they could get up to six feet," Foster said, "but it's hard to get them up to that size." Many iguanas, particularly those in the wild, will have dropped their tail at some time in their lives and grown another. Zoob, however, still had his original tail - despite moving with the family from Kansas over a year ago.
: "He's very healthy, no problems," Foster said. The iguana has been a big hit with children who attend nearby Kelly Elementary, many of whom would stop by on their way to and from school say hello to Zoob.
: Foster said it is possible that Zoob could have escaped from a would-be abductor.
: "He doesn't bite," she said, "but he's so big, with claws. Somebody could get scratched very bad."
: If Zoob did get away, he could still be in the neighborhood, living in the trees. Iguanas can live in the trees for weeks, she said, only coming down to eat.
: Foster holds out hope that perhaps a neighbor or passerby saw something on the night of Zoob's disappearance that will help her find him.
: "You can't hide a six-foot iguana," she said. So far, she has passed out more than 100 flyers, and is offering a $100 reward.
: If you have any information about Zoob's disappearance, please call 895-7183.
