Igs are very smart and they have a very good memory. If she thinks each time she opens her mouth you will stick something she hates inside it she wont open her mouth in front of you anymore.
Talking about how serious an ig bite can be I think all depend on how nervous he is and how much he loves you. When GODZILLA arrived home 3 years ago he was a 3 years old wild beast and almost destroied my son's fingers. My son still has the scars of GODZILLA's bites.Another day he was upset because I put 3 other igs in his cage and he bit me.But it was nothing compared with his first bites, just a scratch. So I think if you dont know the ig and vice versa he can and will seriously bite you.But if the ig is your pet he can bite you but not seriously, only as an advice to show you he is in a bad mood.

: I wonder if you stuck something in thier mouth that they don't like a whole lot when they open to bite, if that would deter them?!?
: I started handling my ig when I had to give her worm medicine and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that she has never even opened her mouth at me. She whips me with her tail a whole lot when she's pissed, but has never tried to bite. I think this has to do with the fact that she thinks I'm going to stick something in her mouth if she tries it, especially now because I have LOTS of stuff to stick in there. :)
