Yea, iguanas are fine eating animal protein as long as you don't mind it shortening their life by about five to ten years. In most cases iguanas fed a diet consisting of a good portion of animal protein die much earlier than those fed exclusively plant matter and vegetables. That is fact. But you are right, the debate will rage, but I don't think for that long. Once the people who advocate meat eating igs realize that their igs can live longer on a diet of plant matter, they will come around, hopefully, but there is no acounting for ignorance. Only time will tell, but all I can tell you is that if my ig can live just one year longer by not feeding it meat, i'm going to not feed it meat. I just don't see how there can be any arguing with that.

: The iguana diet debate will go on forever. you will never see both sides meet. A few years ago monkey chow, a spoon of dog or cat food, and some eggs was norm for iguanas and they thrived just fine. Now they say that it should be only a vegetable diet. 5 years from now they will discover something else that the iguana needs or doesnt need. Henry Lizard Lover feeds his iguana pizza...they seem just fine as well. For me...I give mine mainly vegetation, but i throw in some goodies too.
