I don't know about that (i.e., that diet controls their color...the more greens, the greener the ig...), because Louie, 4 yrs, 4 ft STL, is a very dull, dark green with orange on his legs and dewlap, and all he is ever given are fresh collared, turnip, & mustard greens with mixed veggies and fruits. I think their color is more determined by genetics than anything, but environment does play a role (like the kid in the pet store that has a yellow ig after feeding it lettuce) in how healthy they look. I dunno, just my opinion.
I beleive that some of the green coloring does come from the proper diet of greens. I saw a kid in a petstore bragging about his Ig that it had been raised on nothing but lettuce and it was this yucky yellowish color (poor thing!). Most of the older Ig's I have seen had lost that bright green of the young and juveniles and were more dull colored. The little ones need the bright green to blend in with the foliage whereas the adults are big enough to just look around and say "so you think so huh!"
