Hi all. I have never posted here before but have been lurking around for a quite a while reading everything. Almost feel like I know some of you personally, LOL. My name is Merlin and I am owned by an Ig named Zok. He (I think) has been with me since last December. He is 8"SVL 28TL. He has been check by a herp vet and is parasite free. He is bathed at least once a day usually twice (tub trained). Has a large enclosure 75 degrees on the floor and basking area 95-100 degrees, and UV light. He is getting to be quite tame. He has recently started a behavior I have not seen before. First time was on an outing in the park, temp about 90 degrees. He was sitting on my shoulder when I noticed he had his mouth open about 1/8 of the way. As soon as I touched him he closed his mouth. My first thought was over heating so I got him out of the sun into the shade and offered water which he wasn't interested in. He did not feel overly warm and was not noticably panting. He did this while riding in the car (with AC) so I know he wasn't too hot. He has also done this after doing the famous Ig croc roll and I figured that time may have just been out of breath. The last time was yesterday afternoon inside our apartment when The 4 year old grandson (h*ll on wheels,...LOL)was here. Zok was on my arm and just opened his mouth for a couple of minutes and then closed it. The only common denomintator I can see is possibly a little stress (being around people, being in moving car, croc rolling etc.) Anybody else seen anything like this?
Thanks
Merlin
