: i had been feeding my ig crickets and meal worms as treats only on the wkends. someone told me to not feed these to him, b/c it can cause bad health problems in the future. since then, he has been so pissy and doesn't like beening held. should i give him some to try and calm him down, just not on a regular basis? by the way, everyone says that ig arent keen on liking crickets and meal worms, well mine does. he would take 50 crickets in about 5-10 min. and about 1 can of the Fluker's Meal Worms in about 5 min. he loves these things. i think he got so used to it that now he doesn't have them, and he doesn't like it. any advice? i was told when i got him as a baby, that it was okay to feed them crickets, i mean they even had them in the tank w/ him at the store. sorry about ranting on and on.

Their systems cannot handle all that protein. Eventually they will encounter kidney and or liver damage. As a TREAT, every once in a while, it is OK. As in the wild, they will occationally cross the path of an insect and nab it. He may rebel against his diet change, but will eventually adjust. HAS TO!!!
