i refuse to get into the animal protein debate part of this ... but ...

just because an animal willingly eats something DOES NOT MEAN IT IS GOOD FOR HIM/HER!!!

little kids will sit and eat lead paint flakes all day long (~ so will my rabbits ~) if they're allowed to (lead paint tastes sweet) ... does that mean it's OK to eat lead paint??? (no)

if the only thing YOU had to eat when you were a widdle kid is bugs, you'd sure be gobbling them up when you were hungry cuz you wouldn't know it was yechy, all you'd know is that it made your tummy full ... (right?) :P

if your ig is totally refusing to eat, you may have to "wean" him off the bugs a bit more slowly ... let's face it, igs don't like change any more than we do (most of the time) ... but ...

if you've already *stopped* giving him bugs completely, i wouldn't re-add them just because it is going to reinforce the behavior (if i throw a fit LONG enough and NOT eat, i will finally get my buggies) ...

keep tempting him with nice fresh greens, make sure any other vegies are sliced thin enough/small enough that they're actually edible ~ make sure there is always FRESH food available and he's bound to come around! try some finely sliced pieces of fruit "sprinkled" in his salad ~ maybe the *sweet* will tempt him a bit ... maybe put a nice fresh dandelion flower on top??? (they're nummy AND good for 'em) ... ummmmmm ... try thinly sliced carrots (keep peeling with a vegie peeler, makes 'em nice + thin) ~ carrots aren't a good "everyday" thing but are a good sort of "treat" food cuz they're sweet ...

hang in there + don't listen to what "pet stores" tell you!

Bon.
