sounds like you've got a less bumpy road ahead of you than others have! ^.^
You're in NY? Where in NY are you? I'm in NY as well! lol, I've noticed a lot of NY'ers popping up on the forum! =)
I agree with the others, take him to the vet for a checkup!
not "mostly any fruit or veggie" is good for them.
I'd use Collard Greens, Mustard Greens, and Dandelion Greens as a staple. Personally, I like Collards the most because mustard (+ esp. dandelion) don't preserve very well in the fridge.
My iguana's love squash. Butternut Squash, Acorn Squash, Yellow Squash, etc! Strawberries + blueberries are a MUCH-adored treat! (lol, esp. Tarzan!) Mango + Papaya are some yummy treats as well, but aren't offered as often because they're a real pain to serve (mango, for example, has a HUGE pit!). I've lucked out and can get my producve rather cheap, here. I get my Collards for 65-99 cents a pound. Blueberries + Strawberries aren't too expensive either. The Squashes are approx. 99 cents a lb. too. Mango + Papaya + other exotic fruit are around 1.99/ea.
One thing I'd steer clear of is frequent use of Kale. Too much can cause hypothyroidism. Too much Spinach is a no-no as well. hmm.. and of course no animal protein. Banana's are an ok treat, but too much can set off their Ca:P ratio's. *ponders + tries to remember what else to mention* ....hmmm... well, if I remember anything else I'll stop by later and tell ya! =P
I'd suggest about 50% of the "salad" to be greens, 30% veggies, and 20% fruits. (but that's my pesonal preference, and its worked for me so far!)
good luck with Iggy! =)
