I got confused on the 'heat retaining' thing: do u plan to keep the cage outside year-round?
Because any indoor cage retains heat well if provided with the correct heating devices.

Since the iguana is already 2 years old, it will need a cage that can accomodate it for the rest of its life. It will save u money in the long-run, and "guarantee" a happier, healthier life for the animal.

There are many variations u can go for.
Just remember that an iguana will need an enclosure that is AT LEAST:

6 feet long
6 to 7 feet high
3 to 5 feet deep.

U can buy commercially available iguana cages, but they're often ridiculously pricey, and do not meet the correct size spec's really needed for these large animals.

Many people use ply-wood for the walls, and glass (or plexiglass) for the front to view the animal. Or Plywod only for the back, and the other three 'walls' made of glass.

Others use PVC, others all glass. I personally, used rubber-coated wire mesh to build a 8x8x8 cage. Obviously that did not retain heat nor humidity very well, but I had enough heating devices to keep the animal wamr, and misted the iguana to keep it humid. The plus side was ventilation, therefore a less smelly enclosure.

U can find almost all the stuff u need at a Home Depot, and get reptile supplies on-line or at a reputable pet-store.

As long as the cage is BIG and heated properly, u can't go wrong (well, not exactly, but let's not go there yet).

If u buy (or look through at a bookstore) James Hatfield's The Ultimate Iguana Manual it has at the end plans and tips on how to build a good enclosure.

Others here will tell u more.
U can make enclosures to look incredible by adding fake plants and vines, rocks and more.
Just keep in mind that the animal u have now will grow to 4 or 6 feet in the next 3 years or so.

Good luck!
