I gave JJ time to settle in, but once I was sure she was eating, I started handling. Her cage was really large for a baby iguana, and very heavily decorated with fake plants and vines, so she had plenty of places to hide. I never took away her hiding areas. Sometimes I'd really have to search to find her! At first, she'd run when I tried to reach in after her, but as long as I could catch her in a reasonable amount of time without getting her too worked up, I would catch and handle her. I started her on bath time pretty much right away, too, since I wanted her potty trained asap. It has been my experience the even though they are scared at first, once you catch them, they realize you are not going to hurt them and they settle down. Good luck...
: Hi Everyone!
: I was just wondering what you all have to say about the taming and training section at www.greeniguanasociety.org/taming.htm
:
: Is it really necessary to stick to these guidelines? I'd be completely happy doing all of this if that's what the iguana really needs. Have any of you tamed an iguana using these guidelines? If so, how did it work for you? Thanks! Wendy :)
