In Reply to: Update on strange mouth condition posted by Diana on June 25, 2002 at 17:22:17:

: It's only been about two hours since I posted my post below about Bobbit's strange mouth condition, but it already looks a ton better. I was almost dumbfounded just now when when I went out to see how he was doing.

: After I posted earlier, I held him and put a bunch of neosporinn on his entire head/nose/snout and then I put him out in his huge outdoor cage for some sun, and to hopefully help the neosporin sink into his skin due to the warmth (kind of like how a hot oil treatment works better on your hair when the oil has been heated).

: Anyway, when I went to get him (it's 101 degrees out today here in Utah so I have to keep a close eye on him when he's out in his cage) about an hour later, his face looked almost normal.

: I think that he has damaged his snout by rubbing the window for the week Josh was gone and that the skin is now tight and trying to mend, so it was pulling his lip up so to speak, and showing the pink insides of his mouth. But the neosporin moisturized and relaxed the skin on his head and snout and let the lips relax.

: I will keep a definite eye on him, and will check inside his mouth for anything weird. I just wanted to update you on how much better he is doing just a couple of hours later.

: Thanks to those who posted and gave me ideas. This forum is so reassuring and is so nice to have as a devoted iguana keeper! Thanks for reading this.

: Diana
