If I didn't know you through the forum and your good care practices, I would wonder if it was MBD too. All things considered, I would say it is from the rubbing. Sleestack has injured his mouth several times and it did cause his lips to separate slightly as well, although when he healed, they are almost aligned perfectly again.. luckily for him! Anyway, if you are concerned about things, get a blood test. This will confirm good calcium levels hopefully and if other numbers are off balance, could point to any signs of infection or stress which will be helpful in diagnosing his problem. It's not a bad idea to get a blood test once per year anyway.
