The slightly rough, sandy texture helps to wear down their claws but doesn't hurt their hides. The rock gets warm but not hot from the basking lights, so they spend a lot of time scampering over them and warming their bellies.

I wonder if this would help with iggy claws, or if they are just too long and strong for a mild abrasive to smooth?
