: Hi evan,
igs are everything but solitary animals! This is a myth arising from the observations that they often donīt get along with each other in captivity. However, this generally is a matter of space and related to the fact that they generally cannot choose their mates in captivity. In the wild adult males have territories in which a quite large group of females and some juvenile males can live together. They definitely know the members of their group personally and they have a quite sophisticated communication scheme, including various variants of head bobbing (jerk, head shudder, signature bob etc etc). So be happy that you have found two igs which can get along well together and donīt seperate them. BTW my Ig also refused to eat for more than a week when I was on vacation.
