iZ came downstairs tonite to use the tub and have supper as usual ... he pooped, he gobbled down his food and then decided it'd be a good nite to roam around the living-room .... so .... he jumped off his basking branch (onto the sleeping pup on the couch) he then proceeded to strut around the room and give me + hubby the evil eye ... i knew he was feeling kinda grouchy the last couple days, but he wasn't really giving me the usual "i'm orange, leave me the *(^%@ alone" signs ...
we have a cabinet thingy that the tv sits on, it's got *mirrored* doors on it ... sigh ... i *usually* remember to cover them before iZ catches sight of that *other ig* ... he *HATES* that other ig! (says he's ugly, scrawny AND his mom dresses him funny!) so, of course, 1st thing iZ does is head for the tv cabinet .... i'm scared he's gonna fight with that bad ig that lives on the floor OR that he's gonna get behind the tv (again!) and i'm terrified he'll get electocuted ... at *least* i remember to *NOT* approach him from above (a hard-learned, painful lesson, btw)
so! i'm down on the floor, next to the bad-mirror-ig and am going to *attempt* to convince iZ to head the other way ... yeah, right! he spun his head around and gave me the *WORKS*! full dewlap, up on tippy-toes posturing, evil eye and a WIDE OPEN MOUTH HISS like i've never seen (+hope to never again!) ... i can hear myself telling others (in posts) to *back*away* and i'm thinking i'd better move before he decides to lunge at me, cuz he's ready to spring ... i don't *really* want to back away, cuz i don't want him to go off on a rampage and throw himself around the room (i've seen him do it, it's not a pretty sight!) and NO way will i get him back up to his room if *that* happens!
i've never been afraid *of* iZ before! hubby is sitting across the room, totally oblivious, talkin' on the phone and i'm sitting on the floor, scared to take my eyes off iZ, arguing with myself on what to do, trying to get hubby's attention in a *calm* voice, iZ is hissing like he's totally crazed + getting ready to lunge (it's ok dragon, gooood dragon .... BRETT!... nice dragon ... DAMMIT BRETT! .... pretty dragon ... THROW ME THE *^($@&$ TOWEL! ... you're soooooooo good dragon ... *N*O*W*!!!!)
.... whew ... got the couch throw thrown over him, still hissing .... got him up to his room, still hissing .... put him on a low shelf (not the high one, so he couldn't leap *down* on me!), uncovered him and got the most evil look and toothful hiss yet .... said nite nite dragon and backed *quickly* out of the room ...........
i'm not sure *what* the awful crashing + banging was after i left, but he's quiet now (+ ok!) ....
came downstairs *just a little shakey* and our puppy is choking on his rawhide bone + unable to breathe ... did you know you *CAN* do the Heimlich Manuever on a pup?!?!? but that's another board .....
i'm waiting for the bunny to go into cardiac arrest or something .... geeeeeeez!
point is, even the most wonderful ig can turn into a hormone crazed attack monster with *very*little*warning*!
i think i'll go hide in the bathroom now ..... i hope this'll be funny tomorrow ....
do they sell dragon valium????
