Flavia ~
i hope your not asking cuz of one of *your* igs!?
hope it's just that the article you refer to raised questions in your mind ...
this description: "pee ... has a white jelly aspect with some orange inside ... " *Almost* sounds like the person knows little/nothing about iguanas and is trying to describe fairly normal looking urates ...
kidney problems ARE NOT that easy/simple to diagnose! *heavy sigh*
for any/all "newbies" reading ... iguana "pee" has *2* parts ... clear liquid and "white stuff" ... the white part should be fairly "wispy", not thick or gooey ...
thickened urates are more a sign of dehydration ~ which may or may NOT be a part of other on-going problems ...
sometimes the white has a yellow or even orange tint to it ... *usually* this is due to hormones, like when the ig is "in season" *or* can be caused by having had a large helping of orange vegies recently ...
a change in color/consistency of the urates is definitely something to keep a close eye on, but *by itself* is not an indicator of disease ...
ok ... all of THAT said ...
*yes* an ig with kidney problems is going to have UN-normal urates ...
eyespy's gave a good link for other symptoms of kidney problems ...
Bon. (+ her guardian dragon)
