I always wait until 12:30 or 1:00 (on my lunch break) to feed my ig... he's more warmed up by then and metabolism is high....then sometimes again in the evening when I get home, since he's a big boy (just over 4 ft STL) with a giant appetite!
About the lights.... I have one 12" fixture for the UV (Reptisun) light, which doesn't put out very much heat, and then his "basking" heat lamp next to the UV light with a regular incandescent bulb for heat, and in the winter I have one more fixture for a black light (for heat) at night. So yes....a total of three fixtures, but only two going at the same time in the summer. It seems to work for me, although some people may say just to get the ActiveUV bulb that provides both heat anf UVA & UVB. They are quite expensive, but probably worth it in the long run and can be found at any pet supply website on the net. You can get any fixture at a pet store, and the lights as well, but make sure you read the fine print on UV bulbs. Pet stores will try to sell you incandescent bulbs that claim to provide UV, BUT THEY DON'T, so don't fall for it. UV lights are always in fluorescent-tube form. Hopefully this isn't too confusing for you....good luck on your new ig!
I know this question has come up a thousand times but I'm still confused. The question is about lighting. How many different lights do you need? What are they? What do the do? Where can I get them? What are the best brands and how much are they? Also, which ones should I avoid? I'll be getting a New little green monster to boss me around soon. I really want to Make him Happy and keep him healthy. I really apprciate all your help. Sorry for asking this question again.....
