Have you tried giving him a bath? That's often the easiest and most natural cure for iguana constipation. How much has be been eating lately? If he hasn't been eating, then there's not much to poop out. (Sick iguanas adjusting to new places often stop eating for awhile, which is why I ask.) How long you leave him in the bath depends on how he feels about being in there. Many igs love the bath and swimming, and will be happy to stay in for a long time. Others don't like it much. If you try this method, and he doesn't like the water, give him about 15 minutes to see if he'll poop.

The most important things in treating MBD are UVB and calcium in the diet. You said that you got a ReptiSun 5.0, which is great. Also make sure that he gets lots of calcium in his diet. Collard greens are about the highest in calcium. In addition, provide other greens like kale, escarole, mustard greens, dandelion greens and beet greens. (This is just a regular green mix for iguanas, not a special diet for MBD.) You can also provide a calcium supplement. I've gotten prescription calcium supplements (NeoCalglucon) from the vet, but you can buy some from pet supply stores too. Make sure he's eating well and make sure he hangs out under his new UVB source. You'll still want to take him to the vet as soon as you can to check him out for any other problems and see what the vet has to say about the MBD, but this will be a good start.

Good luck to you and your new ig. :-)

Kate
