IF anyone ever gets it through their heads that iguanas aren't a simple animal to keep and IF there is a sudden glint of conscience/morals/ethics on the part of captive breeders and/or the pet shops that sell iguanas to provide proper husbandry information along with or, someone forbid, BEFORE the sale of an iguana - or any other animal for that matter - then I suppose that, despite a personal dislike for the topic, it could somehow be acceptable to begin breeding for "designer traits". Of course, I don't personally see it happening any time soon. By the same token, the Burm/Retic/ARock community is churning out a vast array of "het for granite/het for albino/het for Michelin/Budweiser/Kingsford ad naseum. Even, dare I say the name, nerd has figured out a way to capitalize on several interesting morphs and find a way to make 5 figure profits on the sale of a single Ball python. Of course a single bout of crypto could wipe out literally "millions of dollars" worth of animals but when you can drop 30k on a breding pair of water monitors who cares.....

As far as "designer" iguanas, I personally don't see it happening... True albinos haven't been known to live that long in captivity but what would you expect from an animal that has what nature considers a weakness in it's genetic pattern? Of course it would be eliminated as quickly as possible. Other than that, yes Flukers tries to capitalize on their "blue diamond" iguanas but there really isn't any other option with igs. Yes, some are a little more blue, some are a little more green and some have more black than others but outside of those options..... "You can have it in any color - as long as it's black."

Maybe if, someday, something like the Fijiian ig recovers from it's current status.. Who knows.... Or maybe, we cross an ig with a Gila monster... Or what about an ig and green wing Macaw? Igs and sandfire BD's anyone? What about poison dart frogs? Igs and Borneo Bat Eaters perhaps?
