Hi Joan, I think minor imbalances may be corrected by diet alone. However, major problems such as Ca deficiencies resulting in MBD will require intervention and treatment with drugs such as Neocalglucon, D3 injections, and plenty of UVB. For instance the blood work on mine, at one time, indicated slightly elevated protein and low potassium levels.
