The height is good, and so is the depth, it's the length that is the problem.

How much "a little over" 3 feet? Keep in mind the animal keeps on growing, so u dont have much time. The cage will -barely- suffice for the moment in accomodating it. If he's tame, u may let him out a couple of times to stretch and explore more, 'til the bigger cage comes in.

For the newer cage, try to go 7 feet high, so u wont have to worry in the long run.
4 feet deep (minimun) and 5 to 6 feet long are a must (try to go for 6).
