The cage is ready, with a basking spot temp of 95 and cool side ranges from 79 inside hide area to 86 closer to the heat lamp. As all these temp zones are larger than Amazon's body I hope s/he will be able to find a comfortable spot. Branches are available at different levels so s/he can climb or hide beneath them. There's still a decent amount of floor space available (at least for a couple of months when s/he starts to outgrow this cage).
Humidity is still a bit on the low side, so I have a waterfall on order to get that raised, and will search for some small branches and river rocks to make sure Amazon won't fall in there. Until then I am prepared to mist regularly. Amazon might prefer to drink that way anyhow.
I have collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, green peppers, banana squash, cantaloupe, raspberries and snow peas in the fridge. Plenty of dandelion greens are growing in the courtyard, which is pesticide and fertilizer-free. There are also frozen mixed veggies as a backup in case Amazon doesn't like this stuff, but of course I'd prefer to use fresh to make sure s/he gets his thiamin. There's plenty of Rep-cal calcium and Herptivite powders and a good-sized water bowl for drinking/soaking/pooping/whatever.
The climbing branches have been sterilized in the oven as well as the cork bark hide. I have plenty of newspaper for substrate.
Is there anything I'm missing in getting ready for my new baby? Would appreciate any advice.
