Im by far an expert only been doing this iggy mom thing for about a year and half now. Yes they can have there toe nails totally ripped out I have been luck that with Double D the ones that were totally gone she regrew, so yours might or might not depends on the ig. I usually have my basking spot around 90 and Double D does move about her cage to diffrent areas depending on what mood she is in weither she wants the basking spot or her hiding dark place. I keep my house a bit warmer than most due to small kids at home so its not a worry FOR NOW (at least thats what the inlaws tell me lol) but as soon as I can afford it im purchasing a radiant heat pannel from herpsupplies.com (ask Mr. D he can give you all the great details on them). As for the crocked toes more than likely they are broken or where broken at one point, Double D comming from the background that she did has 5 broken toes they dont seem to bother her a bit or interfer with her climbing or scratching me ability.

: Thank you for all the info you gave me on my leafy greens...*grins*...it is really great to have so much help so quickly.
: I have a few more questions now that my iguana is home. I noticed that a few of his toenails are missing (totally missing I think) and that a number of his toes are crooked.
: Does this happen?
: Also, in his home, it is about 95 deg. where he basks and about 78 degrees at the coolest. My question is if his basking area ever gets way too hot while I'm at work, will he move himself down the temperature gradient?
: One quick question more...if I turn off his UVA/UVB and heat lamp off at night...what is the coldest he can get without causing him problems. If it gets colder than that, what can I do to keep him warmer at night without interfering with his needed 'dark hours?'
: Sorry about all the questions...and thank you all for your patience with 'iguana newbies' such as myself.
