under water iguanas?

I bought a pool for my iguana so the sun can heat the water to warm, and then I let Igwardo swimm in it. Today I saw him go under water FOR A LONG TIME!! I got worried so I brought him back up. Do iguanas go under water for a long time? I cant' find anything on the internet. RESPONSES WELCOME!
