Thanks for all those references! I'm sure it'll be a huge help, I'll look for them straight off.

Is the 'Dummies' book really any good? I know their turtle one is totally atrocious, we've filled up screens and screens about in on the RES forum. The lighting, diet, and space requirements it recommends could kill an RES, despite how hardy they are. Personally, I've never been fond of Melissa Kaplan's advice or site when it comes to turtles, so I'd be reluctant to follow her advice about other animals.

If you've got any links to online care sheets, that'd be great, too. It's tough to find the info myself, as I can't guage what's realiable and I'm sure there's a lot of misinformation out there.

I've got a couple of specific question about lighting requirements. Now, given that the UVB bulbs need to be within 12" of the basking animal, do you recommend installing more than one fixture? Or will the animal get enough exposure if the fixture is located in the warmest spot of the cage? Also, what temps are desireable throughout the enclosure? Are the incandescents/halogens sufficient to heat the entire enlosure, even if they're on the roof and it's 7' high? I'd love more specific temp info.

Thanks a ton for your help.

Natalie
