: I have been an ardent crusader for reptiles caught in abusive pet shops for many years, but this is the first time I have rescued an iguana. S/he is a bright and pretty green baby that was stuffed into an approximately 5 gallon hex tank with a tiny branch and a food dish too small for a cockatiel. Animal control seized it today and took it to the Humane Society for a health check and holding while the pet store owner is charged with neglect and possibly abuse.
: I get to pick up my new baby on Wednesday and am so excited! I've been poring over MK's and the Green Iguana Society webpages like crazy studying up for my new sweetie. Thanks to Mr. D's excellent post on research I've ordered James Hatfield's book. I have a 65 gallon tank with a nice sturdy branch, a hide made from cork bark, a Powersun mercury vapor lamp that keeps temps in a good range, and a whole lot of love.
: Anything else I need? Any suggestions for an ig newbie? I'm pretty good with balanced salads as I have bearded dragons and will make sure I keep the bugs far, far away from the ig. I promise.
