Dr. Edling makes house calls (he's in the Dallas area)

If anyones interested, I've found a experienced (herp and avian) exotic vet that makes house calls. I've been hearing great things about this guy for the past 6 months or so and now that Romeo seems to need some medical attention may be trying him out.

You can check out his info at http://www.metroccc.org/avian.html. It's the clinic where he worked, since moving to Dallas area, until recently beginning his mobile service.

I spoke to him tonight and found out house call fee (like office call at regular vet) is $120 per hour (I'm assuming that includes time in the house and not drive time too...will need to be sure though). That may sound steep until you consider the fact that he will examine multiple animals for that fee. Compare that w/taking them to the regular vet. If I took my 4 Ig's to my regular vet's office, he'd charge me a $45 office fee for each. . .and I bettcha I'd still be out of there in an hour.

Of course lab work & med's are extra but, they are at the regular vet's too.

If Romeo's throat doesn't look any worse tomorrow morning, I think I may wait until Tuesday (he's just starting the mobile service and this was the first he could see us) and have Dr. Edling come out to the house. I've lately noticed one of Shirley's chin scales seems to have a bump under it. Not only that, Lil'Girl's been having trouble keeping her wait up since her last clutch. . .and Shirley too, since the hysterectomy. It would probably be a good opp to get all 4 checked for worms.

Yeah. . .I'll still have to pay lab & med x 4. . . but at least the office fee will be less. Will let you know how it works out if I go that way.

I got his phone number from the clinic where he used to work. Just let me know if you're interested.
