Questions about antibiotics (got JJ's lab results...)

Hi. Some of you may remember I had written in about blisters on my iguana's belly. Well, the vet called yesterday with the lab results. He left a message that said the results were not too bad, but there was a small amount of staph infection found. Auggh! He also added that if the scrub was not clearing up the blisters, as he thought it should, I could bring her in and we could start her on antibiotics. I plan on calling him back, but I want to be a little informed first. I could not find info on staph infections in iguanas on the web... Any one have experience here? I know they can be serious, and part of me wants to act quick and blast the infection with the antibiotics, but I also know that antibiotics can be hard on a reptile's system. The scrub is not working yet, but it *has* only been a week or so, and I know reptiles heal slow. Besides only one of the three blisters recently even broke open, so that the scrub could really get in and do it's work. The one that popped had a bit of blood on it, which I don't ever remember seeing before, and worries me. What kind of side effects can antibiotics cause in iguanas? Will it cause any harm if she is beginning egg formation as my vet thinks? She is not bred, so the eggs are unfertile, I am only concerned that it would interfere with either full development so she can lay or interfere with the re-absorbtion process should her body decide to go that route... (I really would much rather deal with a crazy male in full breeding season nastiness than worry about a gravid female!!) I am going to call the vet and see what he recommends, since I have never had an iguana on antibiotics before... I am thinking that is the way to go, but maybe he did not want to stress that too strongly on the message machine, since so many reptile owners do not follow up like they should.

How is antibiotic (I'm assuming baytril?) given? orally, topically, injection? Multiple injections? I have given injections to cats, goats, horses before, but never to a reptile... Is it difficult? Would it be just a sub-cutaneous? Those are easiest... If necessary, I would need the vet to show me how and where, but it is something you can do at home, correct?

OK, sorry this turned out so long, I guess I'm just worried, I know these infections can spread and become really bad.... She still looks good and eats like a pig, so She's got that going for her! Thanks for any advice, and just generally being an ear (or eyes!)
