I had the easiest cage transition with Sleestack (and he can be a real pain!)... If you have the time, you may want to try it. I put the new cage across from his old one. Then, every night after he had his poop in the bathtub, I put him in his new cage with his dinner. He ate and climbed around in there (there is a jungle gym in there) so he had a lot to do. At first I just put him in for an hour, then increased it a little every night until he slept in there. By then he was used to being in there as a routine at night. In the morning I would always put him in his old cage. Well eventually, I let him walk back to his cages on his own. One day I saw the most amazing thing. He stood between the two cages, and looked back and forth, unable to make up his mind where to go! (you could see the gears turning) I knew I was making progress! We had a vacation planned for Europe so we kept up that routine with the ig sitters until we got back so he wouldn't have too much change at once. Once we were back for a couple more weeks, we chose a weekend to move his old cage next to the new one and left him in the big cage all day (his old cage out of sight). This seemed to work out well. He didn't see his old cage and he was already plenty used to being in his new cage so he really didn't miss the old one much! It was the most flawless move we've done with an iguana! That was his second move and his first move was horrible! (he had many poopy painting sessions when we did the first cage change too abruptly....this time he didn't have any!) We did it a bit slower than one would probably need to but we weren't in any rush...it may have spanned about 2 months with our vacation in the middle of it. He may have been ready in half that time. Good luck.
