In Reply to: Yes please take Ig to vet... posted by Linda on May 24, 2002 at 16:10:46:
Take it to the vet. . .and if you decide not to, and it dies. . .don't get another one.
I'm w/you Lizzy. I spent over that when my girl Shirley got egg bound (not calcium problem...just getting to old to handle the egg laying stress).
My husband and friends thought I was crazy but she's still with me and I love her more than ever.
My philosphy is that when you make the decision to purchase or adopt an animal (all my Ig's are rescues), you take responsibility (financial & otherwise) for that animals well being. If you can't afford the vet bills, you can't afford the animal (free, inexpensive or otherwise)!
: Through my stupidity my Lizzy got egg bound and lacked calcium bad. She was diagnosed with MBD but luckily not bad.
: With a 7 day vet stay to lay the eggs and calcium supplements, liquid diet and meds she is now growing and getting bigger and stronger everyday.
: They cannot tell you what's wrong but read the signs, I did and am sy=ure glad I took Lizzy, and that's after about $800.00 or so but who cares, money is nothing when it comes to the life of my Lizzy.
