My ig has just started his first breeding season since we've had him. He's not being very aggressive, fortunately. He's been restless, roaming around the house, and he's lost his appetite. For the last week he's hardly eaten anything (although his appetite was somewhat bigger yesterday and today). I know that this is a normal thing for male iguanas, and I wouldn't be very worried about it, except that we just started treating him for MBD about six weeks ago. He's already doing infinitely better than he was then, but it's still important that he eats enough good food to get calcium and help restore his bones.
I'm sure there are others who have had male iguanas stop eating for awhile during breeding season, or at least eat a lot less. Did you do anything to get them to eat? Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kate
